'The Men from Frozen'
In 2009, The Frozen Academy staged a performance in Larroque, France, entitled Deerhunting and an international summer school and networked project entitled @708 Beats, exhibited in the Galerie la Vieille Poste, Larroque,(July) and subsequently in the Tea Leaf Arts Gallery, Deptford, London, curated by Moorland Productions (September).
"We make models of reality which are then applied to it like a scale..."
Using Swatch Internet time, The Frozen Academy members and their remote operators in Seoul Korea, Kuala Lumpur, London, Berlin, New York, Brno and Prague, were able to work together collaboratively and to inaugurate the exhibition simultaneously around the globe with their first 'networked lunch'.
In brief, our organisation has been responsible for a number of exhibitions, collaborative art projects, site-specific interventions and publications ever since 2007. Our particular focus is in the area of international collaborative and networked artistic projects. We exist as a freeform Academy of Contemporary Art, dedicated to the making of contemporary art and the realisation of projects, with no physical existence or bureaucracy, a flexible and inclusive attitude to artworking, and no fees. Our activities are located nowhere, but can pop up anywhere, whenever we 'defrost'.
Following our recent project in Cyprus: 'Ground Plan of Togetherness', (GTFA) curated by Aneta Soukupová & Josef Danek, we created 'The Frozen Academy Beach, a virtual exhibition space on the website of Moorland-Productions.com, our partner organisation. This space will house some of the collaborative work realised during Easter 2010 in Lemba, Cyprus.
A selection of this collaborative project was exhibited in Busan, Korea at the Busan International Environmental Art Fair, June 2010.
